Harry W. Hartman, age 88, formerly of Bloomsburg died Wednesday evening, June 22, 2022 at the Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danville where he resided.
Born in Main Township, Columbia County on May 3, 1934, he was a son of the late Bruce and Mary (McQuay) Hartman.
Harry was last employed at G & B Specialties in Berwick where he was employed for nine years, retiring in 1999.
While residing in Main Township, he attended the Emmanuel Reformed Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and butchering for friends and neighbors.
Harry proudly served his country as a member of the U. S. Army during the Korean War
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Betty Jean Brown, on May 4, 2016; a granddaughter Kelly Jean McCarthy on May 1, 2016; three brothers: Lyle Hartman, Garner Hartman Bruce Hartman, Jr.; and by three sisters: Pauline Boudman, Joyce Cragle and Elnora L. Matthews.
Harry is survived by two daughters: Carol A., wife of Mark Karns, Bloomsburg and Sandra Jean, wife of Terry Fry, Catawissa; a son, Dale E. Hartman, and his wife Patricia, Muncy; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Donzella “Dolly” Sitler, Almedia, Barbara Plish, Berwick and Evelyn Hess, Nescopeck; a brother, Martin Hartman, and his wife Barbara, Bloomsburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg where services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 2:00 p. m. with the Rev. Gordon E. Smith, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park with military honors by the combined VFW and American Legion honor guard. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
