HARRY E. LONG
Harry E. "Hoptoad" Long, age 85, formerly of 323 West Market St., Danville died at 4:44 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 at Sunbury Manor Care where he has resided for 1 year. He has been in ill health for the past ten years.
Born in Danville on December 31, 1926, he was the son of the late Roy and Mildred (George) Long.
He lived in Danville his entire life and was employed at the former TRW Corp., Danville for 36 1/2 years, retiring in 1988. Harry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville, Washington Fire Co., and a life member of the Danville Elks. Harry was an avid sports fan for Danville High School athletics and served on the chaingang for the Danville High School football home games for many years. He was a member of the bowling league at Midway Bowling Lanes, Danville, and he also loved to play bingo. He served with the U.S. Navy during WW II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former June L. Lormor, on January 30, 2011, and by a brother, William B. Long.
Harry is survived by three daughters: Terri D. Long and her partner Sharon L. Wagner, Danville; Brenda L. wife of Kimber Gross, Shamokin Dam; and Barbara J. wife of Ricardo Starr, Sunbury; two granddaughters: Jillian Gross, State College and Rachel Gross, Northumberland and a sister, Gladys Haas, Danville.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with his pastor the Rev. Michael A. Greenauer, officiating. Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
