Harry E. Reinaker, Jr., age 97, 47 Kaseville Road, Danville, died at 2 p. m. Friday, April 13, 2018 at Geisinger Hospice At Maria Hall in Danville.
Born in Danville on February 3, 1921, he was a son of the late Harry E., and M. Elizabeth (Patton) Reinaker. His early years were spent in Danville and he was a 1939 graduate of Danville High School. He later resided in Espy for a number of Years before returning to Danville in 1959.
Harry was employed by Danville State Hospital as an attendant for 35 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the Shiloh United Church of Christ, and a life member of American Legion Post 40, both of Danville.
Harry served with the U. S. Army during World War II in the campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Harry enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, reading westerns and playing baseball. He was a member of the Riverside Tigers Baseball Team. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, the former Ida Elizabeth “Betty” Bartholomew, on February 12, 2009; an infant daughter, Darlene Kay Reinaker; a son, David W. Reinaker, on March 20, 2002; two sisters: Vera Morgan and Margaret Holdren; and by six brothers: Bruce, Harold, William, Donald, Earl and Marr Reinaker
Surviving are two daughters: Gloria J., wife of Robert F. Dailey and Carol A., wife of Jerry W. Ward, all of Danville; two grandchildren: Bryan J. Ward and Karen Ruch; three great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Mary B. Schmotzer, officiating. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy, with military honors by the American Legion Post 40, Honor Guard. Viewing on Tuesday from 10-11 a. m.
