Helen (Murman) Barrett, age 84, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa,  died at 8:50 a. m. on June 5, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She resided in Catawissa for 17 months and previously lived in Beaver Township, Bloomsburg, for many years.

Born in Sandy Valley, Luzerne County, on September 8, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Helen (Wilkinson) Murman.

Helen was an Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War. She enjoyed her family, fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking and her dog Toby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene G. Barrett, Sr., in 1979. By a granddaughter, Carissa Ann Barrett on Aug. 19, 2011; and by her sister, Gladys Oshman.

Surviving are three sons: Eugene G. Barrett, Jr., Benton; David A. Barrett, and his wife Kim, Bloomsburg; Thomas J. Barrett, and his companion Shawn   Bronzburg, Bloomsburg; two daughters: Grace H., wife of Rodger T. Bunnell, Millville; Diann M. Claar, Bloomsburg; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers: Andrew Murman, and his wife Judy, Easton and Thomas Murman, and his wife Louise, Honey Brook; two sisters: Mary Farrell, Chester and Dorothy Stoffa, Drums; and several nieces and nephews.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing and the funeral services will be private for the family with the Rev. Dwayne Nichols, pastor of St. Peter’s (Harger’s) United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Harger’s Cemetery, Beaver Township, with full military honors by the combined veterans group.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton.
