Helen Louise Dunsford, M.D.

Dr. Helen Louise Lucia Dunsford passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 27th 2021 at 78 years of age. She had a long career breaking gender barriers in the fields of pathology and microbiology. She loved her work as a pathologist, frequently saying that she solved murder mysteries for a living. In her roles as dean of students and as a professor, she trained generations of doctors.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Harold Atkinson Dunsford. She is survived by her brother Ed Lucia, her sons Harold and William, daughters-in-law Jenny and Nancy,  grandchildren Edward, Linda and River Fern, and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
