Helen D. (Willock) Rescorla

Helen D. (Willock) Rescorla, age 102, of Bisset’s Lane, Bloomsburg, died late Wednesday evening, March 12, 2025 at her home.

Born in Scranton on February 3, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Peck) Willock. She was a graduate of the Scranton Tech School and resided in Bloomsburg since 1948.

Helen was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She was a charter member of the Bloomsburg Archery Club and a member of the National Poetry Society. She was a writer and assisted Mark Fritz with several of the books he wrote.

Helen proudly served her country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy, achieving the rank of Yeoman 2C.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert N. Rescorla, on October 29, 2006; her son, Kim Rescorla, in December 2024; and by two sisters.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Sally Hopper, of Orangeville; five grandchildren: Luke Rescorla, Scott Rescorla, and Leah Rescorla, all of Michigan, Lon Hopper, of Bloomsburg, and Jordan Hopper, of Mifflin Twp.; and five great-grandchildren: Jack Rescorla, Colton Rescorla, Parker Rescorla, Isabella Hopper, and Holden Hopper.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 17, 2025 at 2 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Rev. Pamela Meilands, officiating. Interment will be held in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with military honors by the combined American Legion and VFW honor guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 p.m.
