Helen M. Vognetz, age 86, formerly of 1708 Bloom Road, Danville, passed away peacefully with her loving husband at her side at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 in Emeritus at Bloomsburg, where she had resided since March. She was in failing health for the last several months.
Born in Bloomsburg on August 22, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Charles L. and Annie B. (Roadarmel) Matthews. She was a 1947 graduate of Bloomsburg High School, and resided in Danville since.
Helen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Danville, where she held many offices. She participated with the church quilters and United Methodist Women.
Helen also loved to quilt at home, and she had made quilts for every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was of the greatest importance to her.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jason B. Vognetz, II in November 2007; four brothers and a sister.
Surviving is her husband, Jason B. Vognetz, with whom she celebrated 67 years of marriage on July 5, 2014; two daughters: Mary Ann, wife of Michael Billman, Numidia; Judy Marie, wife of Ronald DeFrain, Bloomsburg; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three siblings: William Matthews, wife Kathy, Catawissa; Rick Matthews, Bloomsburg and Shirley T. East, Berwick.
