HELEN E. WELSH
Helen E. Welsh, age 86, 529 E. Hillcrest Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 12:50 p. m. Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Columbia Montour Hospice At Maria Hall, Danville, where she was a guest since August 2, 2011.
Born in Main Township on March 3, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Peter D. and Mabel (Goodman) Beagle. She was a lifelong resident of Main Township and attended the Main Township schools before graduating from Bloomsburg High School in 1942.
Helen was employed by the former Regal Shirt Co., Catawissa, for a number of years and was last employed by Milco Industries, Inc., Bloomsburg, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg , for over 50 years , where she participated in the Love Knotter's Quilting Group making quilts for Columbia Montour Hospice, Camp Courage and Family Partnership.
Helen was a member of Bloomsburg Chapter 279, Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1977. She also was a member of the Worthy Matrons Association of District 22 and the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dale H. Welsh, on March 15, 2001; by a brother, Elmer Beagle; and four sisters: Mary Beagle; Margaret Knattrup; Ruth Wagner; and Sarah Baylor.
Surviving are a daughjter, Eileen M. Drummond, Bloomsburg; a son, Scott A. Welsh, and his wife Glenys, Bloomsburg; two granddaughters: Elena, wife of Justin Caspersen, Berwick and Druann Welsh, Ephrata; a great-granddaughter: Marissa Caspersen, Berwick; four siblings: Florence Keller, Mesa, AZ; Clair Beagle, and his wife Caroline, Bloomsburg; Martha, wife of Ralph Evans, Mifflinville; and Grace Fausey, Dixon, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Joel L. Zeiders officiating. Interment in Pine Center Cemetery, Pine Township. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1-2 p. m. Columbia Chapter 279, Order of Eastern Star will conduct memorial services at 12:45 p. m.
