Helene M. Salada, age 86, 1121 Ridge Road, Bloomsburg (Lightstreet), passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home early Saturday, January 30, 2016.
Born in Shenandoah, on March 25, 1929, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen (Savakinis) Baskeyfield. She was a 1947 graduate of J. W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah and resided in the Bloomsburg/Lightstreet area since 1956.
Helene was a member of the First English Baptist Church, Bloomsburg and of the "Stuffers Club". She was a homemaker much of her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Baskeyfield.
Surviving is her husband, Leon F. Salada, with whom she celebrated 64 years of marriage on June 27, 2015, a daughter, Gwen, wife of Luis Vargas, Ph. D., two grandsons: Dominic Vargas, and his wife Maggie, and Daniel Vargas, all of Pittsburgh; and a brother, Edward Baskeyfield, and his wife Naida, Ringtown.
Memorial services will be announced in the near future. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Memorials may be sent in her memory to the First English Baptist Church, 700 Millville Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
