Henry B. Whitenight, Sr., age 75, 109 Skyline Drive, Berwick, died at 6:10 a. m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center, Bloomsburg, where he was a patient since Feb. 1, 2014. He was in failing health for the past year.
Born in Greenwood Township on March 11, 1938, he was a son of the late Harry and Lois (Allen) Whitenight. He spent his entire life in Columbia County.
Henry was last employed as a custodian at Bloomsburg High School where he worked for 5 years, before retiring in 2007. Earlier he was employed by the former Clair C. Hock, Inc. Construction Company for many years.
He attended the Berwick Alliance Church.
Henry enjoyed participating in pony pulls at fairs and carnivals in Pennsylvania and upper New York state.
Surviving are his wife, the former Joyce M. Romanelli, with whom he celebrated his 11th wedding anniversary on June 26, 2013; four children: Lori, wife of Lou Melchiore, Tampa, Fla.; Randy Whitenight, Delhi, N.Y.; Linda Chichester, Wake Forest, N. C.; H. Burton Whitenight, Jr., and his wife Kristine, Sarasota, Fla.; four step-children: Ray Romanelli, Brookville, Fla.; Deborah, wife of Keith Dewalt, Danville; Sean Fairbrother, Millville; Shannon Romanelli, Elysburg; 15 grandchildren; eight great-granchildren; and a sister, Carolyn Trump, Bloomsburg.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
