Herman E. Norquest
Herman E. Norquest, age 83, 1006 E. Sixth St., Berwick and formerly of Millville, died at 12:45 p. m. Sunday, February 15, 2015 while under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice at the Orangeville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Orangeville, where he was a guest since Sept. 19, 2014. He was in failing health for the past year.
Born in Briar Creek Township on August 27, 1931, he was a son of the late Edward and Ina (Robbins) Norquest. He resided in Berwick since 2012 and spent much of his previous life in Millville.
Herman was last employed at the former PMC Fabricating Co., Berwick, working there for 10 years until retiring in 1998. Earlier he was a truck driver for various transportation companies and prior to that was employed in security at the former Magee Carpet Co., Bloomsburg, for 20 years.
He served with the US Army during the Korean War from 1949 to 1953. He was a member of the Ft. McClure Post 804, VFW, Bloomsburg; the Arthur Bardo American Legion Post 564, Millville and a former member of the teamsters union.
Herman was preceded in death by two wives, the former Louise Harder, to whom he was married for 36 years until her death on June 24, 2002 and the former Alda Walters; a son, Ty Herman Norquest on May 6, 2005; five brothers: Edward Norquest, Raymond Norquest, Clair Norquest, Robert Norquest, Russell Norquest; and six sisters: Katherine Norquest, Amelia Norquest, Myrtle Ellis, Beatrice Anderson, Mary Anderson and Mabel Chapin.
Herman is survived by a son, Guy M. Norquest, and his wife Mary Ellen, Bloomsburg; a daughter, Laurie, wife of Jeff McGrath, with whom he resided in Berwick; four grandchildren: Melissa, Aaron and Jeremy Norquest and Danielle Busch; two great-grandchildren: Renee and Jeffrey Busch; and a sister, Gail, wife of Robert Shultz, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 7 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. R. Christian Dunlap, Hospice Chaplain officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p. m.
