Hoover Frey Artley, age 95, who resided at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Danville and formerly of Catawissa, went to be with his loved ones on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025. He was surrounded by family at the end.
Born on January 23, 1930 in Franklin Township, he was the son of the late Nelson and Myrtle (Breech) Artley.
Hoover grew up learning how to self-provide. He was a dedicated farmer and welder. He raised many animals on his farm, no matter how frustrated he would get with them, he would always enjoy it. He taught his passion for farming and the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. He lived a simple life where he sought peace and the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing pranks on his grandchildren when they were younger.
Many weekends he could be found reminiscing with old school buddies or visiting his sister Arlene. He would spoil his grandchildren rotten with all types of candy and ice cream. He loved getting his exercise in to prove he was a healthy person. He enjoyed all animals, especially dogs, which he fondly called "pooch". Bird watching had become a recent passion, as he loved looking out at nature.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Artley, his grandson, Coty Cool, his sisters Kathleen, Iris and Leona and his brothers Mervin and Phannis.
He leaves behind his children, Scott Artley and Pamela Hays, and husband Daniel all of Catawissa, Sandra and husband Rod, of Bloomsburg, Barry and wife Colleen, of Paxinos, Kimber and wife Brenda, of Shamokin Dam, and Terry; three grandchildren, Briann A. Lynn-Peters, Amanda Lynn, and Jennifer Cool, of Bloomsburg; five great-grandchildren: KayLani, Emma, Tiana, Liam and Valerie, all of Bloomsburg; and sister, Arlene Kile, who also resides in Bloomsburg.
For those that had the opportunity to know him, knew he had a quiet simple demeanor about him. He will be greatly missed.
