J. Frank Brink, Jr.

J. Frank Brink, Jr., D.D.S., age 90, 7003 Scenic Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 12:13 a. m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for four days. He was seriously ill for six weeks.

Born in Port Matilda, Centre County on May 23, 1926, he was the only child of the late J. Frank, Sr. and Flossie (Siegfried) Brink. He resided in the Benton area and attended the Benton High School through the 11th grade, when the family moved to Bloomsburg. He was a 1944 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.  He lived on Market Street, Bloomsburg for many years before moving to Scenic Knolls.

Frank  served honorably  in the US Navy for two years during World War II. Seventeen months of that time he served onboard the USS Alamance AKA-75 in the South Pacific Theatre of operations.

Following his military service he attended and graduated from Penn State University and Temple University School of Dentistry.

Frank practiced dentistry in Bloomsburg from 1952 until retiring in 1999 after 47 years.

He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church for many years and attended Shiloh Bible Church, Almedia since 2009. He was a 50 year member of Oriental Lodge 460, F & AM; Caldwell Consistory; Irem Temple Shrine, Dallas;  Royal Arch Chapter 218; and  the Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.

Frank's professional affiliations included 6th District Dental Society and the Central Susquehanna Valley Dental Society.

His family was his first priority and his other activities included traveling, hunting and fishing.

Frank was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Marie B. Hartzell on May 2, 2003, severing a marriage of 51 years.

He is survived by his wife, the former Elro  E. Hacker, with whom he celebrated 12 years of marriage on July 31, 2016; two sons: Stephen F. Brink, and his wife "Peg", Bloomsburg; Ronald S. Brink, and his wife Glenda, Mifflinville; a step daughter, Kristel Tomlinson, Lititz; five grandchildren: Abbey Brink, and her husband Rob Keyser; Douglas Brink; Natalie, wife of Adam Gajkowski; Holly, wife of Ethan Troup; and  Scott Brink;  a step grandson, Alex Tomlinson; a great granddaughter, Sloane Brink; and two step great grandchildren: Trey Tomlinson and Lila Rose Tomlinson.  He was the last of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, pastor of Shiloh Bible Church officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with military honors by the combined VFW group. Viewing Thursday from 1 - 2 p.m.
