James S. Giger, age 74, 210 Mill Street, Orangeville, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Orangeville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, where he was a patient for two weeks. He was a resident of Orangeville Manor for 13 years prior.
Born in Bloomsburg on June 23, 1941, he was a son of the late Isaiah B. and Margaret (Valencik) Giger. He resided in the Bloomsburg area his entire life, and graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1959.
James was a veteran, and served with the US Air Force.
He was a ham radio enthusiast and enjoyed working on old cars. An important part of his life was reading the scriptures daily.
James was preceded in death by a brother, Isaiah B. Giger III.
Surviving is a son, Scott A. Giger, Scranton; a granddaughter and three sisters: Bonny, wife of Larry Broadt, Bloomsburg; Kathryn Giger, Millville; and Margaret, wife of Gerald Yaple, Houtzdale.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in Elan Memorial Park, Old Berwick Road, Lime Ridge with Gary Jarrett, lay minister from JourneyMate Wesleyan Church, Lightstreet officiating. A viewing will be held on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
