James J. Hauck Sr., age 89, 355 Tenny Street, Bloomsburg, died at his home at 7:05 a. m. Monday, November 27, 2017 after an illness of two months.
Born in Bloomsburg on June 29, 1928, he was the son of the late James W. and Esther (Lupole) Hauck. He resided in the Bloomsburg area all of his life.
Jim was employed at the former AC & F, Co., plant in Berwick before his military service and at Wise Potato Chip Co., Berwick after his military service. He was last employed by Deluxe Homes, Inc., Berwick, retiring in 1991 He was then employed part time by Giant Markets in Bloomsburg.
He was a member of the Ridge Street United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir
Jim attended the Berwick Senior Center and played in the bands at both the Berwick and Bloomsburg Senior Centers. and also at area nursing homes. He played the bass fiddle and the harmonica. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing watching the Philadelphia "Phillies" and the Philadelphia "Eagles", as well as the Penn State football team. For many years Jim cut coupons which were forwarded to US Service personnel overseas.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and served in occupied Japan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father, Walter Smith; a brother, Harold Hauck; a sister, Ruth Rote; a step brother, Harold Smith and a step sister, Catherine Boyles.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gloria Pifer, with whom he celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on May 19, 2017; seven children: James J. Hauck, Jr., Danville; William Hauck, Coos Bay, Oregon; Ira Scott Hauck, and his wife Trudy, Almedia; Randy Hauck, and his wife Sandy, Burke, Virginia; Darlene, wife of Dale Hess, Bloomsburg; Larry Hauck, and his wife Stacy, Orangeville; Joyce Hauck, and Greg, Williamsport; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Edward Hauck, and his wife Ruth, Virginia Beach, Virginia; step sister, Martha, wife of Derl Brown, Mifflinville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a. m. in the Ridge Street United Methodist Church, 145 Ridge Street, Bloomsburg (Almedia) with his pastor, Virginia C. Bailey officiating. The family will received friends from 10 a. m. until the time of the services. The combined veterans group will provide military honors following the religious service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
