JAMES F. HYSSONG, D.V.M.
James F. Hyssong, D.V.M., age 63, Conyngham, died early Sunday, March 14, 2010 in the emergency room of the Hazleton General Hospital.
Born in Bloomsburg on August 6, 1946, he was a son of the late Glenn A. and Celia M. (Marr) Hyssong. His step-mother was the late Margaret L. Blecher.
Jim was a 1964 graduate of Central Columbia High School. He attended Bloomsburg State College for one year before transfering to Penn State University for two years. He went on to the University of Pennsyvania, Philadelphia, where he received a degree in Veterinary Medicine.
Jim owned Brook Hill Animal Hospital, Conyngham, for 35 years. He was also licensed in the State of Florida. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Veterinary Association.
He was a PIAA football official in District 2 for more than 35 years. He was an avid scuba diver and also enjoyed running. He took part in the annual "Run For The Diamonds" in Berwick for many years
In addition to his parents and step-mother, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert G. Hyssong on October 29, 1991.
Surviving are a son, Michael J. Hyssong, Linglestown; a niece, Laura M. (Hyssong) DiSano, a nephew, Robert G. Hyssong; a sister-in-law, June M. Hyssong; and his companion, Michele R. Goldberg, who resided with him. Also surviving are several cats and dogs.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Marjorie A. Menaul, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Bloomsburg, officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
There will be no viewing. Friends will be received at the funeral; home on Wednesday from 6-8 p. m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to your local SPCA.
