James âJimâ Boyer, Jr., age 90, of Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg (Almedia), died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for two weeks.
Born in Main Township on July 17, 1925, he was a son of the late James and Iva (George) Boyer. A 1941 graduate of the former Mainville High School, Jim resided in the Bloomsburg area his entire life.
He was last employed by the Kawneer Corp., Bloomsburg for 25 years, and previously worked at Bloom Mills for over 24 years.
Jim served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Shiloh Bible Church, Almedia; the Bloomsburg Fire Dept., and Susquehanna Valley WWII Veterans. Jim enjoyed hunting, bowling and mowing his own and his neighbors lawnâs.
He was preceded in death by a son, Terry L. Boyer; by two brothers, Guy Boyer and Harold Boyer; and by a sister, Patsy Young.
Surviving is his wife, the former L. Mildred Kline, with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage on June 4, 2015; a daughter, Sandra L., wife of Larry Miller, Delaware, OH; a son, Rick L. Boyer, wife Mary Ellen, Bloomsburg; three grandchildren: Wendi, wife of Col. Paul Rounsavall, USAF, Fairborn, OH; William Miller, wife Jennifer, Blacklick, OH; Amanda Boyer, fiance Mark Humphreys, Bloomsburg; three great-grandchildren: Gabriel Rounsavall, Caleb Rounsavall and Katherine Miller; three sisters: Arlene Vought, Berwick; Laura Stewart, Bethlehem; Shirley Kishbaugh, Espy; and a brother, Richard Boyer, and his companion Connie, Milton.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Shiloh Bible Church, 123 Church Street, Bloomsburg with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Viewing on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
