James LaMar Leiby

James LaMar Leiby, age 82, 98 Mateo Drive, Danville died at 4:50 a. m. Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Emmanuel Center For Nursing in Danville.

He was born on July 27,  1935 in Ralpho Township, Northumberland County, a son of the late Raymond  and Jeanette (Watkins) Leiby.

After attending Ralpho Township High School, he served two years in the U. S. Army. While serving in the Army, he attended IBM school and George Washington University, and worked at the Pentagon.

Jim was employed by Sylvania and Phillips ECG as operations manager of data processing and was transferred from Williamsport to Seneca Falls, New York and later to Ottawa, Ohio and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Jim received the honor of Who's Who in the Computer World in 1989 while working in Ottawa, Ohio and Ann Arbor, Michigan. After retiring in July, 1990, Jim and Velma moved to Treasure Lake in Dubois in 1991 and on April 23, 2016 they moved to Danville.

His hobbies were woodworking, fly fishing, deer hunting with his family and traveling. His greatest joy was to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in New York and Arizona.

Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dubois.  He served as a deacon, Bible School teacher, served on Fishers of Men, and truly enjoyed ministering in various churches over the years.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a son in law, Lawrence Wetherbee; two granddaughters. Gleia Luffman and Danielle Wetherbee; his siblings: Geraldine Horne, Helen Molz, Bertlett Leiby, Robert Leiby, and Margaret Williams .

Surviving are his wife, the former Velma E. Cooper, with whom he celebrated  their 60th wedding anniversary on August 31, 2017; three daughters: Tina, wife of Mark Luffman, Cornville, Arizona; Saundra, wife of Gregory King, Cazenovia, New York; Carol Wetherbee, Geneva, New York; eight grandchildren: Wesley and Lindsi Luffman; Benjamin and Lisa Luffman; Laurie and Shawn Eye; Ryan and  Kathleen "Katie" King; Justin King; Michael and Holly Wetherbee; Chad and Amanda Wetherbee; and Danae Wetherbee; several great-grandchildren; and one great -great-grandson. Also surviving are two sisters: Esther, wife of Doyle Snyder, Bloomsburg and Dora, wife of Gene Oman, Bloomsburg; two sisters in law: Jane Leiby, Bloomsburg and Nancy Leiby, Elysburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a. m. in the First United Methodist Church 228 South Street, Catawissa, with the Rev. Susan O. Rogutski, pastor of the church, officiating.  Interment will be in the Muncy Cemetery. Friends and relatives  will be received at the Church on Friday from 9:30 till the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Geisinger Home Health & Hospice, 410 Glenn Avenue, Suite 200, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
