James H. Magill, age 73, 229 Apple Avenue, Bloomsburg, died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the Highlands Care Center, Laporte, where he had been a patient for one day.
Born in Bloomsburg on November 22, 1935, he was a son of the late Paul and Blanche (Hartman) Magill. He had resided in the Bloomsburg area his entire life.
Jim was a driver for Susquehanna Trailways, Williamsport for five years, retiring in 2004. Previously he had been an auctioneer, self-employed auto mechanic and truck driver.
He was a past president of the Catawissa Lions Club. He also enjoyed flea markets and attending fairs.
Jim served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Surviving Jim is his companion of 16 years, Evelyn F. Carr, with whom he resided; his former wife, Nancy I. Magill, Bloomsburg; three children: Vikki, wife of Jeff Breech, Catawissa; James H. Magill, Sr., wife Crystal, Etters and Jennifer, wife of Alan Kulp, Berwick; six grandchildren and five sisters: Elizabeth Lewis, Bloomsburg; Lois Kline, Maryland; Helen May, Bloomsburg; Dorothy Billman, Centerville, South Dakota and Carol Austin, Williamsburg, Va.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: John and Paul Magill.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Hendrickson-Mooresburg United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy with full military honors by the combined VFW Group. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
