Jane M. Achy, age 72, 134 N. Second Street, Catawissa, died at 3:15 p. m. Sunday, July 19, 2015, at the Emmanuel Center For Nursing, Danville, where she was a patient since June 30, 2015.
Born in Catawissa on January 1, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Grace Hoffman. She resided in Catawissa her entire life.
Jane was employed as a waitress at many restaurants early in her life and was last employed by Weis Food Stores, Catawissa, for 27 years, retiring in May, 2003.
She enjoyed riding motorcycle with her husband and spending time at the Catawissa Boat Club. Jane loved Catawissa and the people that live there. She left us all too soon. One of her last acts of love for her community was on June 19, 2015 when she and her husband took her in her wheel chair to warn drivers to yield to pedestrians in cross walks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Gean, Ruth and Dawn.
She and her husband, Frank Jefferson âJeffâ Achy celebrated 56 years of marriage. She is also survived by a son, Michael Achy, and his wife Tracy, Numidia; a daughter, Sherri, wife of Mac Wingate, Bloomsburg; and five grandchildren: Ashley, Kelsey, Tesla, Tory, and Jeffrey.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. Interment will be made in Hillside Cemetery, Catawissa.
