Beloved mother, nanny and great nanny

Jane K. Bennett, age 70, 63 Walnut Street, Bloomsburg (Fernville) died at her home at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, after having been in failing health for several years.

Born at the Bloomsburg Hospital on June 3, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Kathryn M. (Chappell) Gale.  

Jane was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area and a 1959 graduate of the Bloomsburg High School and a 1960 graduate of the former Ja'Mel School of Cosmetology, Bloomsburg.

She was last employed by Bloomsburg University as a custodian at the president's home, Buckalew Place, working there for five different University presidents before retiring in 2001 after 23 years service. Earlier she was employed by the former G. L. F. Store, which later became Agway, for a total of 16 1/2 years.

Jane was a 58 year member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she served as an usher for many years.

She enjoyed her grandchildren, especially attending their school activities and sporting events.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Larry G. Bennett, on Dec. 17, 2007 and by a brother, Jack Gale on July 16, 2005.

Surviving is her beloved daughter, Tammy Lea, wife of Eric J. Wintersteen. Fernville; four grandchildren: Shaun P. Wintersteen, and his wife Colette and Robert S. Wintersteen, Bloomsburg; Nicole M., wife of Jeffrey Lee, Catawissa; Emily A. Wintersteen, Fernville; three great-grandchildren: Cadyn James Lee, Carter Jeffrey Lee, Chloe Jane Lee, all of Catawissa; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-2 p. m.

Flowers will be provided by the family. Memorials may be sent to Wesley United Methodist Church, 130 West Third St., Bloomsburg or to the Bloomsburg Chapter, American Red Cross, for local flood relief, 119 E. Seventh St., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
