Jane T. Tobin, age 79, Raleigh, N.C. died early Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Oaks of Mayview, a health care facility in Raleigh. She was seriously ill for the past month.
Born on Jan. 14, 1933 in Jersey City N.J., she was the only child of the late John Sroczynski and Irene (Kuchler) Sroczynski Gaugler. She resided in New Jersey until moving to Bloomsburg in 1989, where she resided until moving to Florida in 2002 She resided in Raleigh since 2005.
Jane was a 1951 graduate of St. Aloysius Catholic High School, Jersey City, N.J.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at various times during her life.
A devoted Catholic she was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Raleigh and St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Raleigh and also volunteered at a womenâs shelter there.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband 56 years, John W. Tobin on October 10, 2008. Surviving are six sons: John W. Tobin, and his wife Beth, Milford, N.J.; Gregory Tobin, and his wife Debbie, Basking Ridge, N.J.; Thomas Tobin, and his wife Gisele, Bloomsburg; Jerome Tobin, and his wife Regina, Wakes Forest, N.C.; Gary Tobin, and his wife Cathy, Lititz; Brian Tobin, Raleigh, N. C.; and a daughter, Jacqueline, wife of Ken Donofrio, Point Pleasant, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.. She was the last of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat. at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, by her pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Entombment will be made at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Christian services will be held at 7:45 p. m.
