Jane E. (McHenry) Young

Jane E. (McHenry) Young, 84 of Bloomsburg passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at The Gardens at Orangeville.

Born in Bloomsburg on March 25, 1939 she was a daughter of the late Herman and Ruth (Kirkendall) McHenry. Jane attended Bloomsburg High School. 

Jane moved back to Bloomsburg in the 1970’s to raise her family. Prior to that, she resided in France and Germany  for a period of time due to her husband’s military duties.

Jane worked at Milco for many years as a seamstress and the Hotel Magee for a period of time. She also worked part time at Sheetz in her retirement and loved greeting people in the morning on their way to work. Jane also had a great love of animals and liked to volunteer her time at ARC.

She will be greatly missed for her kind and caring nature. Jane enjoyed spending time with her grandchild here in PA and also taking trips to spend time with her son and grandchildren in Maryland. In her retirement she enjoyed taking daily walks around town and greeting people along the way. She was known for her  witty and spitfire personality. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Edwin Young, Jr. on July 2, 1986.  

Jane is survived by three children; son, Richard Steinruck and his wife Carolyn of, King George, VA, daughter, Lisa DeLoSantos of O'Fallon MO, and son, Michael Young, of Bloomsburg; six grandchildren: Alyssa, Shaun, and Patrick Steinruck, Billy and Ashley Baker, and Dylan Young; and nine great-grandchildren; brother, Jim McHenry of Arizona; and brother, Richard and his wife Maureen McHenry, of Bloomsburg. 

Graveside services will be held on Monday March 25, 2024 at 11 a.m.  in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Berwick. In lieu of flowers make a donation to your favorite animal shelter.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
