Janette E. Mariano, age 90, of Bloomsburg passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2018. She had been a resident of Scott Township for more than 30 years.
Born on March 3, 1928 in Coal Township, Northumberland county, a daughter of the late Leon and Rose (Grushkanski) Chekanski . She was the baby of seven siblings.
On September 1, 1945 she married Albert C. Mariano at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Sunbury and he preceded her in death on December 26, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son, Brian J. Mariano on May 20, 2015; a grandson, Nicholas P. Mariano on November 9, 2016; three sisters: Stella Waraska, Helen Skill, Mildred DeClemente; and by three brothers: Francis, Joseph and Edward Chekanski.
She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg.
Janette's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also loved to cook, especially Polish and Italian food.
Janette is survived by a daughter, Sandra, wife of Robert Graeber, Lititz; a son, Martin P. Mariano, and his wife Beverly, Bloomsburg; a daughter in law, Amy Mariano, Bloomsburg; three grandchildren: Amanda, wife of Brian Nungesser, Bloomsburg, Jennifer, wife of Andy McCormick, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Scott Graeber, and his wife Janna, Lititz; three great-grandchildren: Stella Nungesser, Ethan and Conor Graeber; two nieces: Barbara Carchidi and Rose Antonellis, both of Massachusetts; and a nephew Richard Waraska of Connecticut .
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.
