Janice I. Stone, age 82, 330 W. Third Street, Bloomsburg, died at 11:58 p. m. Wednesday September 23, 2015, at Balanced Care, Bloomsburg in Scott Township, where she was a patient since May 14, 2015. She had battled cancer for several years.
Born in Bloomsburg on October 31, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Clyde E. and Zella I. (Roberts) Sharrow. She was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area, living in Fernville from 1980 to 2005; Buckhorn from 2005 to 2011, and Bloomsburg since 2011.
Janice was employed as a nurses aide at the Bloomsburg Hospital from 1971 until retiring in 1999. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Stone, Sr., who died on July 3, 1993; five brothers: Raymond C. Sharrow, Harold Sharrow, Max E. Sharrow, Robert L. Sharrow and George S. Sharrow; and by three sisters: Catherine Sharrow, Ida Mae Sobolesky and June R. Readler.
Janice is survived by five children: Tina I., wife of Ronald Pence, Brownstown; John R. Stone, Jr., and his wife Letha; Jeffrey E. Stone, and his wife Kathy; Roger L. Stone, and his wife Lora, Tracy J. Stone, all of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a. m. in Wesley United Methodist Church, Market & West Third Streets, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Gary D. Weaver officiating. Private burial will be made in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The family will greet friends at the Church from 9-10 a. m. Please use West Third Street entrance.
