Jason L. "John" Schenck, II, age 74, 6020 Fort Jenkins Lane, Bloomsburg, died at 5:05 a. m. Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was in failing health for a number of years.
Born on April 19, 1935 in Plainfield, New Jersey, he was a son of the late John L. and Mary (VanDoren) Schenck. He resided in Berwick and Lime Ridge since 2004 and lived in Mountaintop and Kentucky earlier.
He was employed as a sales associate by Lowe's in Hazleton for six weeks and previously worked for Home Depot for over 15 years. He was a master plumber by trade and owned Mountaintop Plumbing & Heating from 1968 to 1976.
Jason was a Little League baseball umpire for District 13, Lime Ridge and had been a Boy Scout leader in Louisville, Kentucky.
Surviving are his wife, the former Phyllis J. Hodge, with whom he celebrated his 28th wedding anniversary on December 12, 2008; 11 children: Kathy, wife of Richard Kobylarz, and Dory Andrews, both Nanticoke; Jackie Dalmus, Hazleton; John L. Schenck, and his wife Theresa, Dorrance; Judy Welch, Wilkes-Barre; Pamela Haresty and Jason Schenck, and his wife Sherri, both of Nanticoke; Josh Schenck, and his wife Kelly, Copperas Cove, Tex.; Connie, wife of Tony Stewart, Taylorsville, Ky.; Thomas Church, and his companion Kim Gordon, Louisville, Ky.; Pamela Murphy, Huntington, West Va.; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Debbie and Andrew, both of New Jersey.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 4 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St.,, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Mooresburg-Hendrickson United Methodist Churches officiating. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 p. m. Interment will be made in White Chapel Memorial Park, Barboursville, West Va.
