Jay E. Derr, age 87, of Mainville Drive, Bloomsburg, died Sunday evening, November 5, 2023 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born in Bloomsburg on February 27, 1936, he was a son of the late Fred E. and Mary S. (Fisher) Derr. He was a lifelong resident of the Mainville area and a 1954 graduate of the former Beaver Township High School.
Jay owned Derr’s Garage in Mainville from 1954 to 2011 when he retired.
He was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Mainville; the Beaver Twp., Fire Co.; Mainville Fire Co.; Oriental Lodge 460, F & AM of Orangeville; Caldwell Consistory of Bloomsburg; Irem Temple Shrine of Dallas and a longtime member of the former Columbia County Shrine Club.
Jay served with the U. S. Army during the 1950’s.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, the former Mary Jane Watts on May 26, 2018 and an infant daughter, Bonnie Sue Derr on April 22, 1960.
Jay is survived by a daughter, Diane Sue Derr, a resident of The Gardens at Millville.
At his request, there will be no funeral services. Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
