Jay C. Fenstermaker, 96, formerly of East Eighth St., Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born in Bloomsburg on May 19, 1928, he was the son of the late Murrel and Dorothy M. (Grotz) Fenstermaker. He was a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg and a 1946 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
Jay was last employed by McBride Machine, Corp. on Woodbine Lane in Danville, retiring in 1993. Prior to that he was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co. for many years.
He was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Jay was an avid gardener and enjoyed going to Longwood Gardens and other flower shows where he took many photos and purchased plants and bulbs to use in his gardens. He also enjoyed country and western music.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 71 years, the former Dorothy M. Fetter, on September 2, 2023, and a daughter Linda Sue Fenstermaker on February 2, 2018.
He is survived by a son, Robert C. Fenstermaker and his wife Michelle of Coventry Township; three grandsons: Bradley Fenstermaker, of Scranton, Tyler Fenstermaker of Philadelphia and Wesley Fenstermaker of Moscow..
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 11 a. m. in the chapel of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 N. Market St., Bloomsburg with Rev. Pamela Meilands officiating. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Viewing will be in the Church parlor from 10 to 11 a. m.
The family will provide flowers. Contributions in his name may be sent to St. Matthew Lutheran Church at the above address.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
