Jay F. Hoke, age 74, of 625 Rohrsburg Road, Orangeville, passed away on Saturday June 25, 2022 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born on March 24, 1948 in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Stanley B. and Catherine (Gainor) Hoke. A 1966 graduate of East Pennsboro High School. He was a longtime resident of Greenwood Twp., residing there since 1971.
Jay served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War. He served one year in Da Nang, Vietnam as an Electric Power-Line Specialist and spent his last year at Andrews Air Base in Washington D.C., where he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
He was employed by PP&L for 32 years at the Montour Steam Electric Plant in Washingtonville, retiring in 2010.
Along with being a member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436 and the American Legion Post 564 in Millville, he was also an Eagle Scout. Jay enjoyed geocaching and spent many years traveling the lower 48 states searching for elusive hidden treasures.
Jay is survived by his wife, Nancy (Ace) Hoke, with whom he would have celebrated their 54th anniversary on August 10, 2022; a son, Andrew Hoke, and his wife Nicole, of Berwick; three granddaughters: Isabella, Madeline, and Olivia; a brother, Scott Hoke, and his wife Stephanie, of Ponte Vedra, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
At Jay’s request will be no services. Interment will be made at the convenience of the family in Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Resource Center, P.O. Box 439, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
