Jean A. Masteller, age 91, 1067 Mainville Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 7:45 p. m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Deborah Shultz in Bloomsburg.
Born in Sugarloaf, Luzerne County, on September 14, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Archer and Edith (Reagan) Roth. She resided in Mainville for 59 years.
Jean was a 1941 graduate of West Hazleton High School. Following high school, she was employed by the former Bell Telephone Co. as an operator in Hazleton and later in California and Mississippi, where her fianceâ and future husband, was stationed while serving with the military. After moving to Mainville, she was employed by the former Regal Shirt Factory, Catawissa and last by the former Mar Jay Blouse Co., also in Catawissa, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of Emanuelâs Reformed Church, Mainville. Jean enjoyed camping, gardening and especially the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jeanwas preceded in death by her husband, Leonard O. Masteller on September 23, 1992 and by two sisters: Dorothy Zobol and Verna Traub.
Surviving are a son, Lee O. Masteller, and his wife, Donna, Catawissa; a daughter, Deborah, wife of John R. Shultz, Bloomsburg; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Myrtle Roth, Bloomsburg.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a. m. (October 18, 2014) in Emanuelâs Reformed Church, 146 Church Road, Bloomsburg (Mainville) with her pastor, Bradley Breisch officiating. Interment in Emanuel Reformed Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
