Jean l. (King) Rhone

Jean L. (King) Rhone, age 92, of Robin Lane, Bloomsburg, passed away on Sunday September 17, 2023 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on January 7, 1931 in Montgomery, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Margaret (Hall) King. Jean was a 1949 graduate of the former Scott Township High School and spent most of her life in the Bloomsburg area.

She last worked in the nursing office of Bloomsburg High School.

Jean attended St. John Lutheran Church in Espy. She was a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years and was a member of the former Elkettes.

Jean enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and assembling puzzles. She also enjoyed attending Penn State games, spending winters in Florida, and golfing in her later years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Rhone, Sr., on November 13, 1990, and a sister, Nancy King.

She is survived by her companion of 29 years, F. Richard Shilling, with whom she resided; seven children: Connie L., wife of Donald A. Pegg, of Bloomsburg, Richard G. Rhone, and his wife Dorothy, of Bloomsburg, Deborah K. Levan, of Catawissa, Bradford King Rhone, and his wife Bonita, of Bloomsburg, Sandra D., wife of Joseph Lehr, of Bloomsburg, Harry Joseph Rhone, Jr., and his wife Wendy, of Numidia, and Brian S. Rhone, and his wife Cynthia, of Bloomsburg; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Buckley, of Mechanicsburg.

Private services will be held. Interment will be made in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
