Jean S. Weston, age 84, 3001 Sunbury Road, Danville, died at 8:15 a. m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 29, 1929, a daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys (Blum) Sherry. She resided at her present home in Rush Township, Northumberland County for 24 years.
Jean was a graduate of Hunter College High School, New York City, in 1947 and of Swarthmore College in 1951. She was a school librarian in New Jersey for 20 years and since moving to Danville was a volunteer in the Geisinger Medical Center library. She also was a poet.
She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Susquehanna Valley in Northumberland. She also was a Joseph Priestly Chapel Associate, Northumberland.
Jean enjoyed quilting and was noted for her hospitality.
Her husband, William Weston, preceded her in death on February 4, 1998. She is survived by three children: Jenny Kittrix, Keller, Texas; Beau Weston, and his wife Susan, Danville, Kentucky; Lila, wife of James McNulty, Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy, wife of Paul Kashap, Santa Cruz, Calif.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 4 p.m. in the Joseph Priestly Chapel, Northumberland with her pastor, Rev. Ann Keeler Evans officiating. A potluck dinner will follow the memorial.
