Jeffrey Carl Neufer, age 58, of 2345 rear Second Street, Bloomsburg (Espy) died peacefully at 6:50 p. m. on Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was admitted earlier in the day. He battled cancer for three years.
Born at the Bloomsburg Hospital on April 28, 1960, he was the son of Beverly A. (Westover) Neufer and the late Richard E. “Dick” Neufer.
Jeff was a 1978 graduate of Central Columbia High School. Following high school he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country for three years. He was a member of the 3rd Marine Division and served on Okinawa.
He was employed by Heintz/DelMonte Pet Food at Lime Ridge for 25 years as a machine mechanic.
Jeff was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Bloomsburg. He loved music, hunting, fishing, photography, the New York Jets and serving in the Marine Corps. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. An excellent cook, in the kitchen or on a grill, he could easily have been a chef.
Surviving are his mother who resides in Bloomsburg; a daughter, Nichole I. Neufer and her fiance Daniel Korn, to whon she will be married on Nov. 3, 2018, Broomall; three brothers: Gregory J. Neufer, and his wife Bonnie, Danville; Timothy E. Neufer, and his wife Ledell, Berwick; Terry D. Neufer, and his wife Eileen, Bloomsburg; a niece, Casandra Neufer, Bloomsburg; four nephews: Ryan Neufer, Berwick; Kyle Neufer, and Christopher Neufer, Bloomsburg; James Neufer, and his wife Sherry, Gum Spring, Va.; a great-nephew, Richard John Neufer, Gum Spring, Va.; and his devoted friend, Fran Getz, Orangeville. Also surviving are a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, pastor of Shiloh Bible Church, Almedia, officiating. Interment will follow in Canby Cemetery, Millertown, with military honors by the combined veterans group. Viewing Friday from 1-2 p. m.
