Jesse R. Hopper, Jr., age 78, of Mill Street, Bloomsburg (Lime Ridge) passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 8, 202 after an illness.

Born in Bloomsburg on December 2, 1944, he was the son of Jesse R., Sr. and Amelia (Davis)Hopper.

Jesse enlisted in the U. S. Navy following high school and proudly served his country for 20 years, including service during the Vietnam War, before retiring in 1985. Following his military service, he moved to Numidia where he resided for 29 years before moving to Florida for two years. He moved to Berwick in 2016 and resided there until January, 2023 when he moved to Lime Ridge to live with his daughter.

He was employed By Kawneer, Corp. in Bloomsburg for 20 years.

Jesse was a member of Valley of Bloomsburg Post 73, American Legion and Catawissa Post 8306, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, growing vegetables and canning.  His hobbies were restoring classic cars and playing Rummy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Jesse Cabello in 2012, a brother Donald E. Hopper in 2022, his step-mother, Nancy Hopper and a step-father, Nevin Seidel.

Surviving is his wife, the former Rosemary Rodriguez, with whom he observed his 58th wedding anniversary on February 13, 2023; a daughter, Suzie, wife of Joseph M. Onisick, with whom he resided; a son, Jesse R. Hopper, III and his wife Lisa of Catawissa; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters: Nancy, wife of John Moyer, Huntingdon, Pamela, wife of Michael Kleintob, Berwick, April, wife of Andrew Milsap, Knoxville, Tenn. and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held with military honors at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
