Joanne (Yorty) Sneidman, age 72, of 668 Bissetts Lane, Bloomsburg, died at her home early Monday morning, June 28, 2021, after an illness.
Born in Philadelphia on August 14, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Elmer E. and Alice (Dyer) Yorty. She resided in the Bloomsburg area for 70 years and was a 1966 graduate of Central Columbia High School. She also graduated from the former Ja’Mel Cosmetology School in Bloomsburg.
Joanne operated a beauty shop in her home for over 30 years before retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church and she served as a leader of the Youth Fellowship group from 1978 to 1986. She also was active with the former Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary and the current Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary. Joanne was a member of the Bloomsburg Civic Club and also had been involved with the Blooming Follies as chairperson of the donations committee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Norman E. Yorty and Leonard Yorty.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Dale H. Sneidman, with whom she observed their 56th wedding anniversary on Feb. 6, 2021; three children: NanciJo Kistler, Bloomsburg, Todd H. Sneidman, and his wife Michelle, Mechanicsburg, Michael H. Sneidman, and his wife Tina, Bloomsburg; seven grandchildren: Joshua J. Knorr and his wife Sharleen, Justin J. Knorr and his wife Starla, Dakota Kistler and his wife Jamie, Trenton Sneidman and his wife Lauren, Taylor Sneidman, Derek Sneidman and his wife Kirsten, and Bryce Sneidman; three great-grandchildren: Aiden, Madelyn and Kinsley; and a brother, Frank Yorty and his wife Merrilie, of Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a. m. in the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, 1640 Main St., Lightstreet, with Rev. Ronald S. French, associate pastor of the Church officiating.
Viewing on Thursday from 6-8 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
