John R. Cusatis, Jr., age 83, of Mifflinville and formerly of Hazleton passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 with his beloved wife of over 62 years, his three daughters and his beloved canine companion, Mojo, at his side. Everyone knew that Mojo was the son he never had.
Born in Hazleton on June 14, 1938, he was a son of the late John R., Cusatis, Sr. and Nicolina Cameron from Pardeesville.
Prior to moving to Mifflinville, he worked most of his life in sales. For many years he owned a used car sales business. More recently, he worked in TV marketing and promotions for WLYN-35 and Penny’s Classified in Hazleton.
John loved to work and keep busy, his favorite times were large family gatherings with all of his daughters around. Meatballs and spaghetti were served at every holiday meal specifically for him. “That was a treat instead of a treatment” would be happily recited after each meal.
Surviving is his wife, the former Marilyn Potence, with whom he celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on November 21, 2021; three daughters: Lisa Podlesny, Michele Foerster and Evonne Cusatis; seven grandchildren: David Fulton, Derek Fulton, Danielle Fulton, Christina Bomgardner, Kelly Brown, Amber D’hondt and Holly Nateman; and 12 great-grandchildren that were the twinkle in his eye.
Private family services will be held at the family’s residence.
At his request, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Tracyspawsrescue.org
