John M. “Mickey” Dietz, age 78, of 59 Frosty Valley Road, Bloomsburg, died at 12:28 a. m. Friday, August 23, 2019, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for three days.
Born in Mahoning Township, Montour County, on March 2, 1941, he was a son of the late Harry and Ernestine V. (Boyer) Dietz. He resided in the Bloomsburg area all of his lifetime.
Mickey was last employed by Bloomsburg University in ground maintenance, working there from 1985 until retiring in 2002. Earlier he was employed by the former Hanover Brands plant in Bloomsburg for many years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as gardening.
Mickey served with the U. S. Army during the 1960’s.
Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara S. Hauck, with whom he celebrated seven years of marriage on May 12, 2019; four children: Lorraine, wife of Michael Spires, Brunswick, Ga.; Robin, wife of Robert Sheela, Sunbury; Jeffrey A. Dietz, and his wife Karla, Virginia Beach, Va.; Jody, wife of Charles Evans, Mt. Carmel; a step-daughter, Melissa, wife of Christopher Steenburg. Bloomsburg; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a brother, Ronald Dietz, and his wife Carol, Victorville, Calif.
At his request, there will be no funeral services or viewing.
