John R. French, age 79, of E. 10th Street, Bloomsburg died peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Born on October 2, 1943 in Honesdale, he was a son of the late Elmer L. and Marie C. (Kohler) French. He was a 1961 graduate of Honesdale High School.
John resided in Bloomsburg since 1986. After becoming disabled in 1980, he was limited in what he could do and did odd jobs as permitted.
He was a member of the Bloomsburg Congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mifflinville.
John was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
He proudly served his country as a member of the U. S. Air Force, serving from 1961 to 1963.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Jason Darryl French on September 15, 1972 and Eric Anson French on December 15, 2012.
John is survived by his wife, the former Beatrice A. Newhart, and together they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 7, 2022, a son Areson James French and his wife Alyssa of Brooklyn, Conn. and two granddaughters, Violette Rose French and Azalea Lorraine French. He was the last of his immediate family.
Memorial services will be held in his Church at a later date and time.
