John J. Gudonis, age 81, of Sugar Camp Road, Danville, passed away Thursday August 10, 2023 at his home.
Born on November 17, 1941 in Shamokin, he was the son of the late John A. and Antoinette (Yarish) Gudonis. He was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and a resident of the Danville area since 1984.
John proudly served his country by serving in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Vietnam War.
He was employed by Geisinger Medical Center as a chef for 30 years.
John was a life member of the Danville American Legion Post 40. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and attending flea markets and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Earlier in his life he enjoyed going to his sons’ football games.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cassandra Jo Gudonis and a brother, Leonard John Gudonis.
Surviving is his wife, the former Teresa Jenkins, with whom he celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on June 30, 2023; three sons: John E. Gudonis, and his wife Mary Sara, of Danville, Anthony Gudonis, and his wife Julie, of Kulpmont, and William Gudonis, of Mt. Carmel; a grandson, Shane Gudonis; and a granddaughter, Ellie Gudonis, both of Kulpmont; a sister, Maryanne, wife of Raymond Bartosic, of Mt. Carmel; and many nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Rd., Danville.
