JOHN A. HUNSECKER
John A. Hunsecker, age 68, 13 Iron Bridge Road, Bloomsburg, died at 8:39 a. m. Sunday at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, with his loving family by his side. His death followed an illness of three months.
Born in Philadelphia on July 16, 1943, he was a son of the late Paul and Clara (Schubert) Hunsecker. He resided in the Philadelphia area most of his life, moving to Main Township in 1993.
John was last employed by the Dillon Floral, Corp., Bloomsburg as a truck driver, working there for ten years before retiring in October, 2011. Earlier he was employed for many years as a port captain for marine transportation in the Philadelphia harbor.
He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg.
John was a devoted husband and father and especially to his four grand baby's.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hunsecker in 1996 and by a sister.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marian T. Capanna, with whom he celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on June 8, 2011; a daughter, Kathleen T., wife of Kevin Ewart, Bloomsburg; two sons: John A. Hunsecker, and his wife Tara, Churchville and Michael D. Hunsecker, and his companion Kristy, Levittown; and four grandchildren: Rylee Ewart, Breanna Ewart, Kevin Ewart and Gavin Hunsecker. He was the last of his immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, by Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. A viewing will take place at the Church on Thursday from 10-11 a. m.
