John  M.  "Jack"  Lenhart

John  M. "Jack" Lenhart, age 86, 472 (rear) East Eighth Street, Bloomsburg, died at 12:50 p. m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for three days. He was in failing health for the past three months.

Born in Berwick on June 25, 1926, he was a son of the late John and Ruth E. (McIntyre) Lenhart.

His early life was spent in Bloomsburg where he was a 1944 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and  was president of his class.

Following high school, he enlisted in the US Army Air Force where he attained the rank of Corporal. Following his military service, he enrolled in and graduated from the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College.

Jack was employed as a credit manager by Sears, Roebuck & Co. and Philco Ford Corp. in Connecticut, New Jersey and on Long Island before returning to Bloomsburg in the 1960's. He became a teacher in the Bloomsburg School System, teaching 8th grade mathematics much of the time, before retiring from teaching in 1988 after over 20 years.

He was a lifelong member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Pennsylvania State Education Asssociation; Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion; Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436;  Columbia Valley Moose Lodge 623; and the Bloomsburg Fire Department.

Jack was a liflelong sports enthusiast, coaching high school basketball and the golf team at Bloomsburg High School. He was a die hard Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and until recently, an avid golfer. He enjoyed playing cinch with his friends, of which he had many, and working outdoors.

Surviving are three sons: John M. Lenhart, Jr., Millville; Rodney A. Lenhart, Bloomsburg; Rand Lenhart, California; and a daughter, Pamela A., wife of David Drucker, Bloomsburg; three grandchildren: John M. Lenhart, III; David Drucker, Jr.; Chyvonne Drucker; and  three great-grandchildren: Mason Long; Kalye Long; and Kyre Long. He was the last of his immediate family.

In keeping with the requests of the deceased, there will be no funeral services or viewing. Please omit flowers. Friends may remember Jack with a gift to a charity of their choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
