John C. Mausteller, age 85, 241 Rupert Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 9:35 a. m. Friday, January 1, 2010 at the Bloomsburg Health Care Center where he was a patient for three days. He had been in failing health for six years.
Born in Bloomsburg on July 14, 1924, he was a son of the late Charles and Florence (Derr) Mausteller. His entire lifetime was spent in the Bloomsburg area except for the time he was in the military.
He was a member of the Rupert United Methodist Church.
Early in his life he was employed by Girton Manufacturing Co., Millville for a number of years before starting his own refrigeration and air conditioning business. He was last employed as the manager of the International Housewares warehouse on Millville Road, retring in 2003.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and driving his Cadilac.
He was a member of the Retreads Motorcylce Club.
He served with the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
Surviving are his wife, the former Kathleen M. "Kay" Hess, with whom he celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary on December 18, 2009; five children: Randy J. Mausteller, and his companion Deborah Peqignot; Pam K. Mills, and her companion Roger Hartman; Bud Mausteller, all of Bloomsburg; Debbie, wife of Jeremy Levine, Pittsburgh; Kerry L. Mausteller, and his wife Jodi, Largo, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two sisters: Lois Robinson, Newtown Square; Doris Campbell, Millville; and a brother Ross Mausteller, Mifflinville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Confer and by a brother, Kenneth Mausteller.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Calvin J. Rich and his former pastor, Rev. Allen F. Acor officiating. Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
