John R. “Jack” McCormick, age 88, of Bisset’s Lane, Bloomsburg, passed away Sunday April 30, 2023 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born on April 29, 1935 in Mahoning Township, Montour County, he was a son of the late Frank and Isabel (Remick) McCormick. He was a 1953 graduate of Northmount High School in Turbotville and resided in Almedia since 1961.
Jack was last employed by the former Deluxe Homes in Berwick for many years, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Ridge Street United Methodist Church for 53 years. In his earlier years he served as a lay speaker, chairman of the trustees, chairman of the Ad Board, taught Sunday School for several years, and was involved with the youth group at the church.
Jack loved to cook and enjoyed working in his shop making furniture and crafts. He also enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of the U.S. National Guard Unit in Danville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings: Frank McCormick, Shirley Anspach, Gloria Lizardi, and Jay McCormick.
Surviving is his wife, the former Cleo K. Murray, with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage on June 6, 2022; two daughters, Dennice Zeisloft, of Bloomsburg, and Teresa McCormick, of Mifflinville; four grandchildren: Corey Zeisloft, Tina Zeisloft, Tabitha, wife of Chris Cavanagh, and Samantha, wife of Kaine Richway; six great-grandchildren: Blaize, Tessa, Cameron, Jackson, Braydon, and Colbie; and one great-great grandchild, Dalton. Also surviving is a sister, JoAnn Olshefski, of Bloomsburg; two sister-in-laws, Shirley “Annie” McCormick, of Allentown, and Betty McCormick, of Bloomsburg, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Montoursville, with his pastor, Kelly Kocher-Ross, officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
