John T. “Jack” Ralston, age 73, 422 Valley Road, Bloomsburg, died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for one week. He was in failing health for three months.
Born in Bloomsburg on April 21, 1943, he was a son of the late Roy and Arlene (Kimbel) Ralston. Jack was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area and attended the former Scott Township Schools, before graduating from Central Columbia High School in 1961.
Jack was a partner in Deihl’s Nursery for many years, retiring in 2015. Earlier in life he was a truck driver for several businesses.
A member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; Washington Lodge 265, F & AM; and Caldwell Consistory, all of Bloomsburg; he also belonged to Irem Temple Shrine, Dallas; Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436; and the Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.
Jack served with the US Army reserves for eight years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ann Deihl, with whom he celebrated his 47th wedding anniversary on November 9, 2015; two sons, Jeffrey John Ralston, and his wife Eve, Bloomsburg and Bradley W. Ralston, at home; four grandsons: John “Jack” Ralston; Tyler Ralston; twins, Jace Ralston and Lucas Ralston, all of Bloomsburg; and a brother, Rodman R. Ralston, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Howell Sasser, Rector of St. Paul’s Church officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.
