John W. Remphrey
John W. Remphrey, age 62, 91 Italy Street, Mocanaqua, died at 12:10 p. m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Township, Luzerne County where he was admitted Tuesday. He had been in ill health since March.
Born in Lancaster on April 24, 1951, he was a son of the late Harold Remphrey and Betty J. (Cotterman) Remphrey Brubaker. He resided in Mocanaqua for the past month and previously resided at Sylvan Lake, near Sweet Valley for many years.
He was employed by the former Weston Dairy, Sweet Valley for many years, last working in 2003. More recently he was employed as a part time handicapped van driver.
John was a member of the Cross Creek Community Church, Dallas.
Surviving are three children: Shane D. Remphrey, and his fiance Misty Peters, Langhorne; April J. Lemmie, with whom he last resided; John W. Remphrey, II, and his wife Gabrielle, Wilkes-Barre; five grandchildren; on great-grandson; and three brothers: Harold Remphrey, and his wife Cindy, Milton; Larry E. Remphrey, and his wife Linda, Berwick; Gerald L. Remphrey, and his wife Diane, Huntington Mills; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David A. Remphrey on October 14, 1995.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton, with his pastor, Pastor David Martin officiating. Interment in Jonestown Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 1-2 p. m.
