John M. Trudnak, age 72, 460 Third St., Benton, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Praxis Nursing Home, Easton, where he was a patient for 11 days. He had been in failing health since June, 2013.
Born in Mocanaqua, Luzerne County on February 3, 1943, he was a son of the late John M. and Cecelia M. (Pospiech) Trudnak. He resided in Benton since June, 2013 and previously lived in Thorofare, New Jersey.
John was a graduate of the former Newport Township High School, Wanamie and also graduated from college.
He was employed by the ExxonMobil Co., Paulsboro, New Jersey as an engineer for over 35 years, retiring in 2002.
John was a member of St. Mary the Virgin Chapel, Paulsboro, New Jersey and was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Paulsboro.
He served with the US Army from 1964 to 1966 during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post, Deptford, N.J.
John was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sandi Grace Geyer on November 26, 2011; by a son, Christopher J. Trudnak in 1997; and a sister, Jean M. Gorman in 2003.
Surviving is a son, Michael Trudnak and his wife Barbara, Billings, Montana, two grandsons: Michael Trudnak and John Trudnak, a great-granddaughter, Gail Trudnak and two sisters; Dorothy Barchick, Cambra and Mary Ann T., wife of Gerald Zeveney, Benton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Christ The King Catholic Church, Mendenhall Lane, Benton, by the Rev. David M. Hereshko. Interment will be on Thursday at 12 noon in Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, N.J. Viewing will be at the Church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
