Joseph A. Brady, age 88, formerly of Dotyville Road, Stillwater, died at 10:15 p. m. Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Holy Family Residence, Scranton, where he resided since March, 2012.
Born in Shamokin on January 1, 1928, he was the son of the late Patrick and Catherine (McClain) Brady. He resided in the Benton area for over 50 years until moving to Scranton. He was a 1946 graduate of Danville High School.
Joe was last employed as a bartender by Fort Rickett's Post 8317, VFW, Benton for over 30 years, retiring about 2001. Earlier in his life he was employed by Merck, Co., Riverside, and also trained and raised beagles, as well as participating in field trials and acting as a judge.
He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Danville and attended Christ The King Catholic Church, Benton, while residing in that area. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus in Danville, and was a social member of Ft. Rickett's Post 8317, VFW, Benton.
Joe is survived by his sister, Sister M. Josaire (Jane T. Brady) , Scranton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a. m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 18 Center Street, Danville, by Rev. Fr. James E. Lease. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
