Joseph M. DeVito, age 64, 62 Brentwood Circle, Bloomsburg, died at 8:58 p. m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Geisinger Hospice At Maria Hall, Danville, where he was a patient for five days. He had been in failing health Since April, 2016.
Born in Newark, New Jersey on February 6, 1954 he was the son of Frances L. (Palmer) DeVito of Sarasota, Florida and the late Joseph M. DeVito. He was a resident of Bloomsburg since 2003 and previously lived in Mount Pocono.
Joe was a graduate of Hanover Park (NJ) High School in 1972 and also graduated from Montclair State University, Montclair, New Jersey.
At the time of his death he was employed as the Chief Financial Officer of the Kreamer Feed Co., Kreamer, Snyder County.
Joe was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg.
His favorite past time activity was baking authentic Italian pastries, cookies and cakes. He enjoyed playing the piano and spending time with his family and traveling.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Frank Nicholas Mirabile on May 18, 2002.
Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife, the former Laura A. Spadotto, with whom he observed his 16th wedding anniversary on August 8, 2017; two sons: Joseph M. DeVito, Jr. and Nicholas Frank DeVito, both at home; a step -son, Michael Anthony Mirabile, at home; a brother, Corey DeVito, and his wife Jean, Sarasota, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence officiating. Entombment will take place in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1-4 p. m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg. Christian Wake services at 1 p. m.
