Joseph E. Jaske, age 79, Bloomsburg and formerly of Cape Coral, Florida, died early Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Emmanuel Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, Danville, where he was a patient since October 15, 2015.
Born in South Bend, Ind. on December 6, 1936, he was a son of the late Gerald and Helen L (Schwein) Scope. He was a 1954 graduate of Brownstown (Ind.) High School.
Joe resided in Wilkes-Barre, and New Jersey before moving to Florida and in Scott Township since 2014.
He was last employed as a clerk in the Wilkes-Barre office of the United States Postal Service and had previously been employed at the Tobyhanna Army Depot in Tobyhanna.
Joe was an amateur radio operator (Ham) and enjoyed interacting with friends on the short wave radio frequency.
He served with the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Turkey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rachel A. Dreisse in 2012 and by a half-sister, Barbara Jaske.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Michelle J., wife of Jeffrey R. Bella; a grandson, Noah Bella and a granddaughter, Katherine Grace Bella, all of Hemlock Township, a brother, Jerry Jaske, and his wife Norma, St. Joseph, Michigan; and several nephews and nieces.
Private services and burial will be held.
