Joseph J. Mulligan
Joseph J. Mulligan, age 75, 243 S. Third St., Catawissa, died at his home early Saturday, February 7, 2015 and was pronounced dead at 12:21 p. m. He was in failing health for three years.
Born in Jeanesville, Luzerne County on April 10, 1939, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Anna (Stricz) Mulligan. He resided in Catawissa for 14 years and previously lived in Fern Glen, Luzerne County.
Joe was employed as a heavy equipment operator through the Operating Engineers Union local in Wilkes-Barre, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of the Bloomsburg Southern Baptist Church.
Joe served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam era.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary E. Brobst, with whom he celebrated his 36th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2014; two sons: Sean M. Mulligan,at home and Patrick J. Mulligan, Catawissa; two grandsons: Tyler Sandrock, West Hazleton and Darrien Mulligan, Catawissa; four brothers: John Mulligan, and his wife Sue, Bethlehem; James Mulligan, and his wife Sue, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Edward Mulligan, and his wife Priscilla, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Robert Mulligan, and his wife Betty, Jim Thorpe; and three sisters: Nancy Kushick, Fern Glen; Cathy, wife of Thomas Kroscavage, Mechanicsville; Margaret Borneisen, Jeanesville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by a sister Maurita Phillips and a brother, Thomas Mulligan.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with his pastor, Rev. Charles N. Chamberlain, III, officiating. Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Catawissa. There will be no viewing.
